Hi LOL! It seems like we just met! What a great Halloween celebration! Okay so Thursday let's talk about the time: past, present, and future. Please come prepared to talk about a book of your choice and discussion the following: How did the historical, present, or future setting in which the story took place affect the story? Would the story be the same if it had taken place in another era? Why do you think the author wrote the story in that particular era? What about books that were written a long time ago, but were in the present at the time that they were published. How do they read now that they actually take place in the past? What about books that were written in the past about the future, i.e. 1984? What are those like to read now that the future is actually in the past???? When reading the story, was it told chronologically or did the author jump back and forth between the present, future, and past? Do you like reading stories that jump around or do you prefer stories that following a chronological timeline? Alright! I'll see you on Thursday and please try and post one comment this week!!! Molly

  1. I prefer it when a book stays on one time line or the prologue being in the past giving a small amount of information about a past event mentioned in the story. One example of this is The Five Ancestors: Eagle. The prologue is a legend in the present that is actually taking place in the past that affects the rest of the story. I also don't mind if the epilogue is in the future like in the last Harry Potter book where it shows Harry as a adult taking his kids to the Hogwarts Express.

  2. Well in the series I'm currently reading outside of school (Fallen, Torment, Passion, and Rapture) they are able to travel back in time to past lives. I think that it helps the storyline a lot because them traveling back in time gives us an inside look at what happened in some of Lucinda's past live (Lucinda being the one holding the curse.)

  3. Well I like books that jump around in the timeline and ones that stay as well. I kinda of find it more interesting to read stories that jump back and forth tho. Then you get a feel of what is happened in the past and what is happening in the present as well.
