So out of all the characters you have met in your lifetime of reading, who is your role model? Pick the character that you would most like to emulate and please post something in the comments. Come prepared with further discussion at our meeting on February 20th!
See you then, and I look forward to reading your comments below!

  1. HAS TO BE A FICTIONAL CHARACTER. MR.O SAYS SO. PRIDE AND PREJUDICE IS BANNED. YOU CAN'T USE IT. NO ONE CAN.

  2. Thanks for clarifying Shannon. Why is Mr. O so strict :)
This is a hard one, but I am going to go with my first instinct...Edna from the Awakening. Don't worry; I am not suicidal, but I was really touched by her character when I read the book in high school. I admire how she stands up to a very oppressive system and represents herself and her desires. She isn't too "in your face" but she is brave. I remember thinking she was selfish...but then again is she? I look up to Edna (maybe I should say Kate Chopin) for bringing complex social issues up for discussion. As a society I think we see things as black and white and that is a very oppressive way to live...just think about the Giver...

  3. I don't really have a good role model from any books really but the closest one is Damon Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries. He will literally do anything and everything for the people he loves and I admire that so much. There aren't many people that I know who will do that.

  6. I guess mine is Harry Potter. The series was the first large book series I read and I love it. He is a good person. One reason I he is my role model is because in the seventh book he saves Malfoy and Goyle from dying in the room of requirement even though they are not nice people.

  7. Some other characters that I think would be my role models are Ripred and Brimstone. Ripred in from the Gregor the Overlander series by Suzanne Collins (same auther as the Hunger Games). He is a human sized rat that lives in Underland and helps Gregor by teaching him about his abilities. He wanted peace between the different races of Underland and work hard to make that happen. He never gives up and has a lot of confidence. Brimstone is from the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series and he also wants peace between his people and the seraphim. All he wants is to save his people and have the main character to be happy.
